Having a child dealing with an illness is an awful thing to endure, especially when it hits all of the sudden. Knowing exactly where to turn or who to call when your child gets sick is important and really help on their road to recovery. Ear Infections – All of us remember being young and having an ear infection, and most of us also remember that they are painful and can be debilitating. For young kids, ear infections can be scary because they are not sure why they are in pain. The unfortunate news is that the younger children seem to be affected quite a bit by this particular illness. Studies tell us that five out of six kids will be diagnosed with one ear infection before they turn three and 40 percent of children that age will have three or more. Urgent care centers and especially pedi centers are well versed in how to treat kids with ear infections in a way that helps them understand and eases the pain quickly.

Allergies and Respiratory Issues – Depending on where in the United States you live, allergies can be a huge issue. Often times allergies affect children more because they are so young and have not been able to truly find out what all they may actually be allergic to. If you don’t know what you’re allergic to then you can’t avoid it! The 2014 National Health Interview Survey showed that nearly 10 percent of U.S. children suffered from respiratory allergies, nearly 6 percent had food allergies, and close to 12 percent had some type of skin allergy.

Whether you have recently moved to a new city and are not sure who to choose as your child’s primary care physician or if you have a newborn and are doing all of these things for the first time, you can count on the care at a pediatric urgent care. They handle many more illnesses than the common three listed above and if they can’t help you they can find someone who can; and in many cases that is just as important.
