Our bodies can feel stress and tension just as prominently as our brains do, and caring for our physical bodies is hugely important just as caring for our mental health also is. In fact, you cannot have one without the other, and self care should encompass both as much as possible. Fortunately, from treating yourself to facials to getting a deep tissue massage, there are many ways that you can incorporate self care into your life, at least every once in awhile if not on a more regular basis.

Taking good care of your skin is one way to do so, as acne in varying forms is hugely prevalent here in the United States. In fact, more than three quarters of all people (around 85%, to be a little bit more exact) will have acne at some point. And while acne happens most prominently during teenage years, adult life can be rife with acne as well, especially during periods of high stress (which we all certainly experience as adults in today’s world) and during hormonal disturbances (such as during pregnancy).

Facials can be a great way to treat skin of all natures, from skin that has suffered from acne to skin that deals with issues like oiliness or dryness. Facials come in at all price point and come in all shapes and sizes, making getting facials done ideal for just about everyone – even for those who have incredibly sensitive skin and did not previously think that facials were a viable option for them. Facials can even just be done for the pure purpose of relaxation, as facials can be very gentle and soothing.

Aside from getting facials, getting a massage is another way that many people are able to find relaxation and pain relief, particularly for back pain. And back pain is certainly incredibly common here in the United States, with the majority of adults dealing with back pain at some point over the course of their lives, if not chronically. For many people – more than 90% of them, in fact – massage like trigger point massage or even sports massage has been effective for relieving pain associated with back pain or from another source, such as a sports injury.

Massage is becoming such a viable form of pain relief, in fact, that many different types of massages are even being recommended by medical professionals like doctors and chiropractors all throughout the country. And the data that has been gathered on the subject more than backs up this claim, showing that getting a medical massage is recommended to more than 54 million people by doctors and medical professionals over the course of just one year here in the United States. For many people, massages allow them to release pain and relieve tension all while enjoying a nice period of relaxation without having to worry about any of the other stressors of life.

And some forms of self care can even revolve around improving overall self confidence. Waxing, while often painful, tends to be one of those things for while waxing is not pleasant during the process of it, many people feel that it is more than worth it in the long run. In fact, up to one fifth of women (around 21% of them, to be just a little bit more precise) use waxing as their primary form of hair removal and control, as waxing often lasts longer than other forms of hair removal, like shaving and is typically less painful on the whole than tweezing as a form of hair removal.

All in all, there are many different ways to take care of your body in periods of high stress just as there are many different ways that you can care for your mind. For many people, self care is an absolute essential, but it will look different for just about everyone. For while some people will enjoy getting facials and various skin treatments, others might instead prefer a deep tissue or therapeutic massage. And even more might like waxing and other methods of self improvement to use as a confidence booster when they are in need of it the very most.
